Geekshow posts FIRST Wonder Woman Pilot review

Geekshow has posted an interview with someone who has seen the new Wonder Woman pilot episode.

The interview begins with a non-spoiler review of the pilot before moving on to SPOILER heavy discussions.

•The pilot features 2 costumes; the one seen in the set pictures with cloth like pants and red boots, and the classic "bathing suit" which is described as looking the better of the two by a million miles. The costume she ends the pilot wearing is the classic "bathing suit" costume. The one that was first shown in Entertainment Weekly, with the blue boots and shiny pants, does not appear in the pilot.

•Despite some cheesy dialogue most of the actors are described as good, especially Adrianne Palicki (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman) and Tracie Thoms (Etta). However Justin Bruening (Steve Trevor) is described as "awful", lacking charisma and he even suggests recasting or scrapping the character altogether.

•The action is described as over the top with a needless amount of violence, with Wonder Woman killing people and using her Lasso of Truth as a whip.

•The script and dialogue is described as overly cheesy, with Wonder Woman even saying "tits".

•Despite the pilot's flaws the reviewer says if this was the first episode of a T.V series he would tune in for the next episode, BUT only if the script showed improvements, as it currently "feels like a David E. Kelly show" and not a Wonder Woman show.

So to summarise; the pilot is "really really average", Adrianne Palicki and Tracie Thoms are great as Wonder Woman and Etta respectively, and Justin Bruening as Steve Trevor is "awful".

Tom Welling Being Courted by Marvel?

According to Australia's whatsplaying.com.au, we haven't even seen Tom Welling in the Superman tights yet and Marvel is already supposedly courting him for a potential project.

Muses the site, "You’d think after spending ten years playing a comic book character, an extra few years playing crimefighter would be the furthest thing from Welling’s mind - but it’s not, he’s up for playing a superhero again (you’ll recall he tested for Superman Returns a couple of years ago; if he had gotten it, he would’ve been playing Clark Kent a lot longer). Guess you stick with what you know. And like. And enjoy. Don’t know what film, if any one in particular, Marvel is looking at Welling for but they do have film adaptations of Deathlok, Runaways and Doctor Strange in the works. If it’s one of those three, I think the safe bet is Welling is being considered for Strange. Be interesting to know if Warner Bros, who are in bed with DC, are courting Welling - our contact didn’t know."

The piece also mentions Welling as a possibility for a currently-in-development Allen Quartermain reboot being developed by Smallville co-creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

Fox Cancels Human Target

Despite a massive push on the part of the fan base and the show's cast and crew, it seems that Christopher Chance's adventures have come to an end.
As recently as WonderCon in San Francisco, Mark Valley, Jackie Earle Haley and other cast members and producers did their best to get the word out about Human Target on Fox in the hopes that the show would be renewed for a third season. Unfortunately Deadline is reporting that the show has been canceled.

X-Men: First Class International Trailer

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.

Antje Traue cast as female villain in Superman

German actress to play Faora in Warner Bros.' 'Man of Steel'

By Jeff Sneider

EXCLUSIVE: German actress Antje Traue has been cast as Superman villainess Faora in Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' "Man of Steel."

Henry Cavill stars as the titular superhero, while other confirmed cast members include Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Michael Shannon as General Zod, as well as Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent.

There are multiple Faoras in the Superman universe, so it remains unclear which one Traue has been tapped to play. The first Faora, Faora Hu-Ul, was introduced in Action Comics #471 as a beautiful Kryptonian woman with an intense unexplained hatred for all men. She was an expert at the Kryptonian martial art of Horo-Kanu, which utilizes pressure points on the Kryptonian body and made her a dangerous foe for Superman to fight in hand-to-hand combat. In fact, he was forced to flee from their first encounter.

That said, it's more likely that Traue will be playing the version of Faora that debuted in Action Comics #779 as a Pokolistanian aide of General Zod. That character was an orphan metahuman with the ability to disrupt molecular bonds, which allowed her to create a mutagenic virus that served as the linchpin of Zod's plan.

In pop culture, the female Kryptonian named Ursa in "Superman" and "Superman II" is believed to be based on Faora, who appeared on the eighth season of "Smallville" as the wife of General Zod.

Zack Snyder is directing "Man of Steel" from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, based on a story by Nolan and Goyer. Christopher Nolan is producing alongside Charles Roven, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder, while Legendary topper Thomas Tull is exec producing with Lloyd Phillips.

Production is scheduled to start this summer in Chicago, with a release planned for December 2012.

Traue was last seen playing the female lead alongside Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster in Overture Films' "Pandorum." Thesp recently wrapped Renny Harlin's war drama "5 Days of August," which stars Val Kilmer, Andy Garcia and Heather Graham.

Traue is repped stateside by Greene & Associates Talent Agency, and by Troika and Spielkind overseas.
